I hit 80 during the day on Sunday. I didn't even realize it at first. I was fully engrossed in some quest in Zul'Drak, working as a double agent under a Scourge guise for the Ebon Blade. I turned in a quest and an achievement flashed across my screen. At first I disregarded it... but then I was like, wait a tick, that quest wasn't anything of... HEY I'M 80!
I proceeded to do all of the following:
- Run around and grab the tabards for Wyrmrest, Argent Crusade, and the Kirin Tor
- Get in groups for 2 heroics and 2 other normal 80 instances
- Do some more quests in Zul'Drak
- Join in at a battle for Wintergrasp
- Form a pick-up group for 10-man Archavon
- Wipe due to terrible tanking at Archavon for a bit
- Kill Archavon
- Put together a pre-raid gear wish-list
- Quest in Storm Peaks and Icecrown once I've finished out Zul'Drak
- Open up the Ebon Blade quartermaster
- Run more heroics
- Run Naxx-10

It's not a big grind tbh. Two weeks after 80 and Ulu's exalted with three of the championing factions and within 10k of being exalted with the fourth.
Then again, I get asked to tank stuff a lot.

I was still in all my gear from T6 content aside from 2 trinkets and a weapon the day I hit 80.
Things you need:
Spiked Titansteel Helm: Crafted
Tier 7 Chest: 80 Emblems of heroism (or naxx 10)
Tier 7 Gloves: 60 Emblems of Heroism (or naxx 10)
2h Axe from Heroic Halls of Lightning.
Boots from: Exalted Knights of the Ebon Blade.
Staggering Legplates from Heroic Utgade Keep.
Venture Co. Libram of Retribution from PvP vendor in Grizzly Hills PvP area - easy stuff!
Incisor Fragment - Trinket from Heroic Drak'Tharon Keep (king dred)
Lol, would you be taling about the hideous polearm that looks like a Priest Staff?

Gratz! and like Paul said the grind for rep is not too bad.
The only rep I see that will feel like a grind is the Sons of Hodir rep. But the quest are alot better than the nethering rep =P.

The rep grind doesn't look like it's going to be too bad (aside form Sons of Hodir, like Herc noted), but I still don't wanna do it. I wanna just, you know, be exalted.

Thanks for the gear tips, Firelight! I have the Venture Co. libram all ready, and the Spiked Titansteel Helm / Incisor Fragment were on my radar, but I'll take a look at the rest for consideration.

If the polearm of which you speak is the one that has a long handle, a short stubby pointy end, and comes from heroic Violet Hold, then yes, that one. I feel like I'm poking mobs with the broken-off haft of a claymore.

Zul'Drak is pretty awesome, but I've heard that Storm Peaks is even better ;-)
Plus Icecrown is going to be "zomgbbqbestzoneever!!111!!11!" because I get to hang with Tirion and do quests that directly subvert Arthas's plans.
